What information will be covered in the trainings?

The Homelessness crisis in King County continues to create more questions than answers. One of the most important questions for the Church is, “How can we love and serve our homeless neighbors?”

This training series covers key areas such as:

Engaging Homelessness 101: A Path and Overview to Restoration (Thurs. Jan. 9)

  • The extent and root causes of homelessness
  • God’s heart for our homeless neighbors
  • The Mission's approach
  • How anyone can get involved

Engaging Homelessness 102: Overcoming Relational Barriers (Thurs. Jan. 16)

  • This training discusses 3 barriers to healthy relationships: Trauma, Addiction, and Mental Health Disorders

Engaging Homelessness 104: Boundaries (Thurs. Jan. 23)

  • Real church scenarios
  • The definition and application of boundaries
  • Biblical principles of boundaries.

Engaging Homelessness 201: Understanding and Addressing Trauma (Thurs. Jan. 30)

  • Understanding Trauma and the Brain
  • The Hope of Replacement Experiences
  • The Role of the Church

Engaging Homelessness 202: Understanding and Addressing Addiction (Thurs. Feb. 6)

  • Understanding Addiction
  • Healing and Recovery
  • The Role of the Church

Each training provides foundational information and includes insights from experts, real-life stories from formerly homeless individuals that show that change is possible, and a Q&A time.  We want each attendee to walk away with a deeper understanding of homelessness and actionable steps to take.
